David played in the Maybank Malaysian Open at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club where he shot a 79 in the first round. Once again the weather was a big factor here with extreme heat, humidity and electrical storms and due to this David withdrew from the event.

Eighteen year old South Korean Noh Seung-yul beat compatriot K J Choi by one shot to win the event.
